If like me your Saturday night involved tuning into The Wedding, you would have noticed that this was a royal occasion like none before it. Newcomer Meghan was clearly calling the shots and used her platform to deliver a powerful message of inclusion. It was an act of leadership which literally demonstrated the power of love.
In his sermon, Reverand Michael Curry asked us to imagine a future where love is the way. “Imagine our homes and families where love is the way; Imagine our neighborhoods and communities where love is the way; Imagine our governments and nations where love is the way; Imagine business and commerce where this love is the way.” Love is at the heart of almost all religious and spiritual teachings including our own Indigenous culture in Australia. Perhaps it’s time we took note.
In Sydney, on June 19th, Talkpoint will be partnering with Tjanara Goreng Goreng and Mark Spain to provide an experience of Sacred Leadership. Drawing on her PhD research, spanning teachings from her Elders to modern leadership experts such as Kegan and Erickson, Tjanara will take us on a journey that weaves art, storytelling and rigour. She will introduce us to Kanyini – the principle of connectedness, responsibility and unconditional love that underpins Aboriginal life – and offer us an alternative pathway to leadership which respects the self, others and the environment.
