I’m feeling so inspired after having experienced Simon Sinek and Peter Docker first hand in Sydney yesterday. What I was most struck by was Simon’s conviction that a good leader needs to focus on the human elements of work.

It gives me great pleasure to share with you some of the outcomes of our “ambitious tour” with leading equality teacher, Dr Michael Kimmel.
Our aspiration for #KimmelTalks 2016 was to leverage Michael’s message and cause a systemic shift towards gender equality in Australia’s workplaces. To do this, we felt it was important that Michael engage those both within and beyond our corporate community, including not-for-profits, entrepreneurs, educators, the arts and government. While it is too soon to know the full impact of our cross-sector collaboration, I have no doubt that we cast our stones into the right ponds, the ripples from which will be felt well into the future.
Kimmel gets personal with Aussie men on gender equality:
“If you want an instant feminist, talk to a dad whose daughter has just hit puberty.”
Sydney, 3 May 2016 – One of the world’s leading experts on men and masculinities, Dr Michael Kimmel, will be in Sydney next month to spread the message that gender equality is not a zero-sum game, and may be the best thing that has ever happened to men.
When Michael Kimmel first approached me, seeking support to gain an audience with corporate Australia, I hesitated. Sure, I had a great deal of respect for Michael’s work, I supported his messages and was in awe of his ability to tell a sticky story, but I’m not an agent and I wasn’t interested in just selling Michael’s time.
Dear TalkPoint Community and Friends
Today is International Women’s Day and, with the theme this year being global gender parity, it gives me great pleasure to confirm that Dr. Michael Kimmel will be returning to Australia following the success of his 2015 visit to continue the conversation about gender equality in our workplaces. Head of Sociology and Gender Studies at SUNY, and one of the world’s leading experts on men and masculinity, Michael will be joining TalkPoint in Sydney from May 20 to 26.
To our wonderful community & friends:
Thank you each for your contribution to an amazing year packed full of conversations that matter. We hope you enjoy the photo gallery above.
Equality has been an overarching theme for TalkPoint this year. It is one of the ten components of the Thinking Environment as we learned from Candice Smith in May. It was central to our Gender Equality conversations with Michael Kimmel in August. It was our point of difference when we launched Speed Mentoring with Vanessa Porter in September. And finally our end of year Anti-Social with joiningthedots last week embraced equality & a deep sense of connection locally & globally.
TalkPoint & All of You invite curious HR folk to join us for an entertaining evening of Speed Mentoring – a “two way thinking” experience for HR professionals.
Designed in collaboration with All of You, this is a fresh approach to mentoring based on an equal exchange & the belief that we all have something unique to give & receive.
